GOLDENDALE COMMUNITY RADIO RECEIVES PUGET SOUND ENERGY GRANT FOR LPFM STATION START UP

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

GOLDENDALE COMMUNITY RADIO RECEIVES MAJOR GRANT FUNDING FROM PUGET SOUND
ENERGY FOR LOW POWER FM BROADCAST EQUIPMENT

July 8, 2015. Puget Sound Energy awarded a grant of $8,000 for radio
broadcast equipment needed for start up of a Low Power FM Community
Radio Station in Goldendale, WA.

“Eleventh hour rescue,” is how Cory Eberhart, KVGD-LP Board Member,
described the grant money from PSE that arrived in early July. “It could
not have come at a better time,” she enthused. “Everyone involved is all
smiles about it!”

According to Eberhart, “Lack of adequate funding for expensive broadcast
equipment has held up the project until now.” Community Enrichment for
Klickitat County (CEKC) is the applicant for the FCC’s LPFM Construction
Permit that expires in August.

Local fundraising efforts have included a recent benefit concert with
Kenny Lee and the Sundowners, a Portland area blues band. The event was
held at Goldendale’s Legion Hall and raised more than $500. Other local
support for the non-commercial station has been through Community Radio
memberships, Holiday Market mugs project last December, a
spring-cleaning yard sale, and ongoing crowd source campaign through
GoFundMe.com.

KVGD-LP plans to broadcast from a studio at 514 South Columbus, next
door to Paul’s Barber Shop in Goldendale. The station’s website is
kvgd.info.
